THE Glen Orden Football Club is bringing local sport into the digital age.
Earlier this month the Hawks launched their own smart phone application.
The App allows players and supporters to keep up to date with all things Glen Orden.
The brains behind the App, Hawks’ football manager Louie Elevato said the feedback had been outstanding since it launched.
“The idea came about early in the season,” he said.
“At the time I was thinking that it was a bit ridiculous. We are a local footy club. But then the more I looked into it and started reading up about it the more I thought it was something we should do.
“Everyone has access to all the information they need in regards to their team and the club overall.
“There is a live score update at the end of each quarter for our seniors. I know one of our player’s parents are currently living overseas. They now get the update right away rather than having to wait a few hours to find out after the game.
“It is a basically a hands on version of the club.”
The App can be downloaded for free through iTunes.
While players and supporters have already expressed their delight at the finished product, Elevato said it also provided a new way for club sponsors to connect with supporters.
“It is a very good marketing tool and it is good for our sponsors,” Elevato said.
“They are not just a sign at the club anymore. With one click you can call them and get in contact with them.
“We are even looking for a major sponsor for the App.”
Anyone wishing to find out more information regarding the App or potential sponsorship opportunities is encouraged to contact the Glen Orden Football Club.
The good news continued at the Hawks during the week with the club signing head coach Nick Diker for another two years.
Diker has taken Glen Orden from a middle of the table division two side to premiership favourites and a likely division one side next season.
