MARC Heine is a food nut.
Acquiring a taste for quality food and having worked in retail since he was a teenager, it’s fair to say his ripe idea for The Village Store is ready for fruition.
Inspired by quality retail customer service in San Fransisco, the 38-year-old hopes locals will appreciate the new Yarraville supermarket.
“I found the most amazing place to go shopping when I was living overseas,” Marc said.
“The place had such a friendly vibe and staff would greet customers by their first name. That’s the atmosphere I want to create in my store”.
The Village Store will be divided into four sections, complete with a bakehouse, fresh produce, gourmet deli and liquor section.
Fresh coffee will be available from a kiosk window in the mornings.
“I hope the store will be a prime place for people to drop in before and after work or if they’ve forgotten a few grocery staples from the weekly shop,” Marc said.
“I think locals will appreciate the unique shopping experience that isn’t comparable to any of the large supermarket outlets.”
Mark hopes to source produce from local wholesalers and markets as the business grows.
The Village Store is expected to open on 5 September.
