Man stabbed in daylight

A FOOTSCRAY man received non-life threatening injuries after he was stabbed in broad daylight, metres from Madden Square last week.
The 28-year-old is believed to have had an altercation with a group of men before being stabbed on Leeds St just after 11am last Wednesday.
The man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he was treated for wounds to his lower left arm and abdomen.
The two offenders in their late 20s or early 30s are believed to have ran off into Leeds St following the altercation, with one man arrested by mounted police a short time later.
Footscray Police Inspector Tony Long said the other suspect was known to police.
“CCTV technology placed around the CBD, along with witness statements, has allowed us to determine the identity of the person in question,” he said.
Insp Long said many assaults resulted in the suspect and offenders knowing each other.
“The problem that we generally have with assaults is it generally happens at private premises and unfortunately that’s something that we cannot patrol for,” he said.
Police said they will continue their search for the offender.
