WHILE all eyes are on Werribee during the Spring Carnival, Wyndham residents are being encouraged to shop locally if they are planning on spending a day at the races.
President of the Werribee Chamber of Commerce, Tonia Tribe, told Star last week that Werribee’s central business district was a goldmine for people wanting to look the part when they are at the races.
Ms Tribe is the owner of Tonia Tribe’s Boutique in Watton St and said the area gave shoppers something they could not find in other shopping districts.
“I had a lady come into my shop the other day and she said I love this street, I’ve bought my shoes at Francine’s, my dress at Urban Rose, my handbag here and I’m getting my hair done at Salon Vogue. I can get everything I need in the one place,” Ms Tribe said.
“That’s what I’d really like to convey to people.
“They can get a point of difference by shopping here because it’s a different product choice and they get friendly and familiar service.”
Ms Tribe, who took over the role of President of the Chamber of Commerce in September, said the Spring Carnival could become a major source of business for retailers in Werribee.
“It’s a time of fun and dressing up and it’s a highlight on the social calendar,” she said.
“The best place to get something is Watton St and the Werribee CBD.”
