MUSIC runs through Justin Vasquez’s blood and he can’t wait to share his talents with the world.
The 13-year-old Grange College student started playing piano when he was seven, started singing when he was nine and picked up a guitar for the first time last year.
The self-taught muso is already making his own waves in the music industry and was recently placed first runner-up in the local Filipino cultural TFCkat competition, which is similar to Australian Idol.
Justin received a cash prize together with accommodation and air travel to the Philippines for the International 2013 DMZZ Global Singing Idol to be held in Manila where he will represent Australia.
The confident 13-year-old said his musician uncle inspired him to start playing with his disarmingly strong vocals perhaps coming from his singing mother.
“When I started performing audiences used to scare me, but each performance brought positive feedback, which slowly made my confidence build up,” Justin said.
The music lover said he wanted to get famous while he’s young so it will be easier to break into the industry like pop stars Justin Bieber and One Direction.
“I’ll play music forever but if I get older and I don’t get famous I’ll probably stop,” he said.
Next year Justin will take to the stage of reality singing show X-Factor and try to convince the judges he’s got what it takes to be Australia’s next superstar.
Justin will be flying to the Philippines for the song contest in December.
