ACTING is anything but scary for talented teenager Rachelle Meyer.
The 15-year-old, who studies at Adam Turnbull Acting in Hoppers Crossing, will also star in her school’s production ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ in May this year.
The Bacchus Marsh Grammar student has also designed the show’s program.
“We started rehearsals at the end of last year and they have been really fun,” Rachelle said.
Last year, she performed in the school’s production of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ as Antonia, a female version of the Antonio character.
“I do enjoy it, and not being that sporty I see it as my way of contributing to the school and through being in the school productions, I’ve made lots of new friends,” Rachelle said.
Apart from acting at school, the young performer said she enjoyed studying acting at ATA.
“I enjoy that it’s not very strict and we can have fun as well as learn about different methods of acting,” she said.
“I started there I think because I needed confidence and it was a way for me to make new friends, and now I’m involved with ATA I’d eventually like to get into film and television.”
At ATA classes, students take part in scripted scenes, play theatre-based games and put on a showcase at the end of every year.
“Probably improvisation is the biggest challenge, it’s the thought of not doing that well and it takes a while to find your feet,” Rachelle said.
“It does make you feel like you’ve done well when you make people laugh, even if you didn’t mean to.”
The Meryl Streep fan has a busy year ahead of her – in addition to acting, she will begin her VCE studies in Year 11 and make her debut in April.
