POLICE believe they have found the remains of a man who went missing more than four months ago in Werribee South.
Last Monday police were called to Aviation Rd near Cunnighams Rd in Werribee South after farmers found a car in a dam they were draining.
A badly decayed body was found inside the car, which was upside down, wearing work boots and a fluorescent work jacket.
It is currently thought that the body, not yet identified as male or female, could be Ismet Toprak who was reported missing when he did not show up for work at a Werribee South vegetable farm on 12 January.
“Police believe that the body is that of a 46-year-old Corio man who has been missing since January this year,” a police spokesperson said.
“The death is currently not being treated as suspicious and police are looking at a number of factors including a possible vehicle collision.”
Mr Toprak’s profile has since been removed from the missing persons website.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and they will prepare a report for the coroner.
