AFTER getting married, Queenie Koay was inspired to start a design studio specialising in wedding stationery, greeting cards and illustrations.
Two years ago the Williams Landing resident established her boutique called Queenie.S.K.
Ms Koay went from working as graphic and multimedia designer for a company which made children’s products to running her own business.
The talented designer now works with couples to create wedding stationery and sells hand-made greeting cards, ribbon, lace, doilies, jewellery and accessories through her website.
“I love weddings and using my gift to help create something beautiful for a couple’s special day,” Ms Koay said.
“I’ve been through the experience myself, so I know how brides can be.
“I like pretty stuff and beautiful things; my love of design and drawing is incorporated into my work.
“I’m someone who appreciates attention to detail a lot and also patience. I’m a perfectionist.”
Ms Koay said she started Queenie.S.K. after creating stationery and related items for her own wedding.
“I did the packaging for the cupcakes, the containers for the lolly buffet and the stationery for the invitations and menus,” she said.
She recently designed some Japanese-themed wedding invitations for a couple who met while they were both teaching in the country.
“It was such a beautiful story and it got my ideas flowing and I wanted to create something beautiful for them,” Ms Koay said.
Ms Koay said she hoped to become an event stylist for weddings, birthdays and christenings in the future.
