A good brew

By MATT NICHOLLS

PORT Macquarie’s Little Brewing Company is going from strength to strength as craft beer enjoys its own boom period.

Now in its seventh year, the husband and wife combination of Warwick and Kylie Little has gone global, with The Little Brewing Company featuring in an international publication titled World Beer: Outstanding Classic and Craft Beers from the Greatest Breweries.
Three of the Port Macquarie company’s beers receive particular mention: Wicked Elf Pale Ale, Wicked Elf Porter and Mad Abbot Tripel.
“To be considered in such fine company is a tremendous accolade for our brewers,” Mrs Little said.
“The pale ale and tripel are gold medal-winning beers at international level, while the porter won an international silver medal last year on its first release.”
The book, to be released soon, was compiled by respected British journalist, editor and beer writer Tim Hampson, with assistance from independent beer writers.
World Beer is due for release across the world and will be distributed by Penguin Books in Australia and will be available from October.
Mrs Little said the company was in the midst of upscaling its brewing operations to meet with demand.
“At the moment we only sell what we can make, but we’re in the process of expanding so we can accommodate more buyers,” she said.
