POLICE are investigating a shooting at West Kempsey on the weekend.
About 12.30am Saturday, a 27-year-old woman and 20-year-old men were woken by the sound of a vehicle stopping outside their Tabrett Street home.
The residents told police the driver sounded the horn several times before hearing a gunshot.
After searching the woman’s vehicle, which was parked outside, it was found to have had a bullet hole and a projectile was found inside the car.
Police were contacted and officers from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command attended, establishing a crime scene.
The vehicle was seized for further analysis by forensic investigators and taken to Kempsey police station.
Officers have urged anyone with information about the incident or suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
