Senior band remembers

Port Macquarie Hastings Senior Concert Band.

The Senior Concert Band unit of Port Macquarie Hastings Municipal Band, led by Glenn Moore, presents the first of its “We Remember” Concerts for 2012 on Sunday, November 4, at Port Macquarie Panthers at 2pm.
The second concert will be at Laurieton USC on Sunday, November  11 at 3pm. This is an opportunity for our community not only to remember those who paid the supreme sacrifice of their lives in two World Wars and subsequent arenas of war, but to raise funds for the work of Port Macquarie Legacy in caring for the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans in the Port Macquarie region.  The cost of admission is $7, with the opportunity to enter fundraising raffles.
Led by Ann French, the popular Sing Australia Choir Port Macquarie joins the Senior Concert Band for their favourite time of collaboration in  the stirring nostalgia of  war-time songs.  These will include songs like “A brown slouch hat”, “It’s a long way to Tipperary”, “Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag” and others like “Evening Hymn”, with its bugle call.
Added to these, the Band will play some marches such as Belgian Paratroopers and Thin Red Line, with jazz of the era like Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and In the Mood. The Choir’s presentation will include songs like “As time goes by”, “Summertime” and “Chattanooga Choo Choo”.
All this music from the Band and the Choir will make this a memorable experience.  Everyone is encouraged to relive the best of precious memories, along with the enjoyment of giving generous support to our worthy Legacy families.
