Rewarding our top cops

A NEW partnership is ensuring that local police get the recognition they deserve.
The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West is supporting their local police by sponsoring the Mid North Coast Local Area Command Police Officer of the Year awards 2013.
“We are pleased to be conducting these awards to recognise the good work of our police and I encourage members of the community to nominate officers who have shown outstanding acts of courtesy, understanding, compassion, courage and devotion to duty and the community for the preceding 12 months,” Local Area Commander Superintendent Paul Fehon said.
There will be two separate sections for these awards, the Community Awards which is open to the public to nominate any police officer within the LAC, and the Peer Awards, where police officers may nominate fellow officers within the LAC.
The successful local nominees will qualify for the NSW state awards to be held in Sydney in November.
The Mid North Coast Local Area Command includes the following Police Stations: Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton, Comboyne, Ellenborough, Kempsey, South West Rocks, Gladstone, Crescent Head, Bellbrook, Nambucca Heads, Macksville and Bowraville. All police officers working in this Local Area Command are eligible to be nominated for this area’s competition.
Members of the public are invited to nominate a police officer of their choice on the website copsrtops.org.au, or by completing the community awards form and either placing it in the box provided at Port Macquarie or Kempsey Police Stations or mailing it to: Police Awards 2013, Rotary Club  of Port Macquarie West Inc., P.O. Box 330, Port Macquarie  2444.
Nominations are now close 17 June.
