About 8am on Saturday, September 11, 2004, 19-year-old Kylee Ann Schaffer was last seen at Willawarrin, north-west of Port Macquarie.
Ms Schaffer was later expected to return home but did not arrive. She was reported missing to police by family members.
It has been reported Kylee, who would now be aged 26, was last seen around the Willawarrin area. Her disappearance is being investigated by Mid-North Coast Detectives.
Ms Schaffer is one of thousands of people officially declared missing.
Police are highlighting these alarming facts during National Missing Persons Week.
The annual event is to raise awareness of missing people in our community and encourage those with information about them to come forward.
The 2012 Missing Persons Week is being held from Sunday, July 29 to Saturday, August 4. The theme of the week, ‘Take the time to let somebody know’, highlights the importance of young people, as well as other members of the community, letting somebody know where you are and when you will return.
Take Rose Howell for example.
About 6.45pm on Friday, April 11, 2003, Ms Howell was last seen at Repton, near Coffs Harbour. She was last seen near the Pacific Highway, and possibly hitch hiking. She was expected to return home that afternoon, but did not arrive.
She was reported missing to police by her mother and has not been seen since.
Anyone who can assist with information concerning missing people in our region, including Kylee Schaffer and Rose Howell’s disappearance, should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Running late? Plans changed? Need to take some time out? You might not think of yourself as ‘missing’ — but what about the people who care about you? Whatever the reason, just take the time to let someone know.
