Readers’ heaven at mammoth book sale

It’s bookworm heaven from Friday to Sunday when the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Annual Book Sale kicks off.
From May 4 to 6 residents and visitors can worm their way through thousands of books for sale – and all for great causes.
Last year’s book sale raised a whopping $19,500 for charities – the highest amount made in books sales on its record.
But it would seem that record is set to be crushed.
A spokesman said last year the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie had 480 boxes of “donated’ books, but this year it had about 550.
And that’s a good thing by the sounds of it.
Last year, one couple alone purchased 15 bags of books on the Sunday – and that was after spending $326 on the Friday night, the spokesman said.
Don’t miss out on this readers’ paradise to be held at Port Macquarie Panthers on Friday from 5pm-9pm, Saturday from 9am to 8pm and Sunday from 9am-12pm.
