There is light at the end of the tunnel for Tacking Point Lighthouse Reserve, with rejuvenation plans moving ahead.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council formally adopted the final Masterplan for the popular tourist area.
Following a period of community engagement last year, the feedback recommended a number of changes to the draft Masterplan that will allow the inclusion of an accessible ramp linking the car park to a viewing platform and lighthouse surrounds, improved pedestrian facilities along Lighthouse Road, installation of traffic calming devices, bike racks and water drinking stations at the reserve.
In conjunction with the Masterplan, a priority listing of works to be completed at the reserve has also been adopted, with a number of these improvements identified for implementation within the next three years.
The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise have been heavily involved in the development of the Masterplan, working closely with Council throughout the consultation process.
