Big Business
Next Wednesday, 12 June, Progressive Cinema will screen The Corporation at the Armidale Club, 91 Beardy Street at 6.30pm (please note earlier starting time). Turntables Restaurant is open for meals from 6pm. The Corporation documents the disproportionate power of corporations and how they have decimated our human and physical environment as they extend control over human society. Pelmet-Making
Pelmets at the top of windows are a terrific way to keep the house warm by preventing cold air from circulating behind curtains. Sustainable Living Armidale is running free pelmet-making workshops starting with a demonstration on Saturday 15 June from 1- 4pm.
The focus will be on making simple pelmets using cardboard, fabric or other inexpensive materials that are easy to handle and install. Subsequent meetings will be: Group One on Friday 21 June from 9.30 -11.30am and Group Two on Saturday 22 June from 1.30 – 3.30pm. Register with Debra Mill on 0468 379 370 or at icandoit@slaati.org
Launch of a Classic
Celebrate the launch of Lionel Gilbert’s classic work, Images of Armidale, on Friday 21 June at 5.30pm in the Town Hall. Mayor Jim Maher will do the honours and guests can toast the rebirth of this beautiful book with champagne. Only $19.95 with colour illustrations and line drawings. All proceeds go to the Cultural Precinct project.
The Art of Line
The Jacaranda Acquisitive Art Award features the renaissance of drawing as a significant art practice. View the magic of line at NERAM until 23 June.

Thanks to architect Tony Deakin, a number of proposed designs are currently being considered. This is going to be a staged process as monies and members’ help will be sought.
