CUCUMBER sandwiches and feather-light sponge cakes were just some of the fine food to order at a High Tea held at New England Regional Art Museum last week, continuing the Friends of NERAM fund-raising drive to acquire Margaret Olley’s Yellow Room triptych.
More than 100 people attended with each table presided over by a hostess who invited her guests, as well as providing fine china and silver to grace the tables.
Organisers said more than $5000 was raised at the event with a great time was had by all.
The fund-raising committee has several events planned to raise the balance of the funds which amounts to just 20 per cent.
Other events planned include an Ode To Olley dinner on 15 June at NERAM, celebrating Margaret Olley’s life on what would have been her 90th birthday. Tributes will be delivered throughout the evening from people who knew her well.
Several local artists have generously donated Olley-inspired art works which will be for sale.
Tickets to the Ode To Olley dinner are available at NERAM @ $100 per head, phone (03) 6772 5255.
More events are planned in the Spring including an open garden weekend on 15 September in a garden which will feature hundreds of daffodils, continuing the yellow theme.
