One foot in front of the other for a cause

It’s time to hit the pavement for a really good cause.
Motor Neurone Disease NSW (MNDNSW) is holding its inaugural walk in Port Macquarie to raise much-needed funds for research, on Sunday, October 9 at 10am.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that enable us to move around, speak, swallow and breathe, fail to work normally.
With no nerves to activate them, the muscles gradually weaken and waste.
The patterns of weakness and rate of progression vary from person to person.
While some people can live a long time with MND, the average life expectancy is two to three years from diagnosis.
And the fact is, some residents and their families are affected and need your support.
The Walk is approximately 5.5km and is wheelchair and dog-on-lead friendly, kicking off from Westport Park and finishing up at Town Beach and return, for a sausage sizzle. Registration is $25 adults, $8 children, $6 dogs on a lead.
All registered participants will receive a Walk to D’feet MND T-shirt (registered dogs receive a bandana).
