Two local families were lucky to receive a surprise Mother’s Day gift last month, after Hastings Family Day Care and Childish Photography teamed up to provide portrait photography prizes and discounts valued at over $1200.
Manager of Hastings Family Day Care, Sandra Luvis, said she was thrilled to have worked with Childish Photography to give gifts of beautiful portrait prizes to one of 450 day care families and one of 50 educators, while offering significant discounts to another five families.
“Hastings Family Day Care has been a part of the local community since 1977, so this was a great opportunity to join forces with another local, family-focused business and say thank you to our families and educators,” Ms Luvis said.
Owner and principal photographer at Childish Photography, Kylie Biltris, who was once a family day care educator herself, said one of the joys of running her studio portrait photography business was the opportunity to give back to the local community.
“The gifts included a portrait session in our brand new state-of-the-art studio, an image presentation and one 16×20 inch matted and mounted portrait that captures the true essence of each family,” Mrs Biltris said.
Winner of the portrait package for families, Helen Stanley, said she was blown away by the generosity of the prize: “As a single mum of four children aged between 10 and 3, it was so lovely to receive this Mother’s Day gift, which I know will become a treasured heirloom in our family.”
The other winner, Rhonda Wells, has been a Hastings Family Day Care Educator for 20 years. “I have three young adult boys and we haven’t had a professional portrait taken for more than 15 years. The boys are off living their own lives now, so this portrait will be very special because they will always be my kids,” she said.
Kylie Biltris agrees. “Childish is a state of mind, not an age. There is no ‘cheese’ at Childish. It’s about letting the unique personalities shine through in each photograph.”
