SYDNEY Olympics choreographer Jason Coleman was in Port Macquarie on Saturday night to open up a new dance studio.
Coleman, most recently famous for his appearances as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, cut the ribbon to officially open the new building, which will host the Wauchope and Port Macquarie Performing Arts school.
Coleman also performed a masterclass for the 70 dancers at the Albert Circuit premises.
“It’s been an incredibly proud day here,” studio principal Stacey Morgan said.
“The students absolutely enjoyed the opportunity to train with one of Australia’s most sought after choreographers.”
Morgan said Coleman spoke highly of the Port Macquarie and Wauchope dancers’ high energy and enthusiasm.
“It was such a blessing to have Jason here to officially open the new studio, this space has been a dream of mine for a long time now, with state-of-the-art sprung dance flooring, huge studios and a relaxing waiting area for parents,” she said.
“The reaction from the parents and students seeing it for the first time was priceless. I’m so glad we now have such an amazing space to call home.”
