Port Macquarie Lions Club hosted a visit by District Governor Deyann McDonnell recently.
DG Deyann, who is a member of the Lions Club of Maclean NSW, has visited 40 of the Lions Clubs in her District, which stretches from Taree in the south to Grafton in the north and west to Tamworth and Moree.
Members of the Port Macquarie Lions Club were presented with Community Service Awards, including Alan Edwards who received a 50-year Service Award.  Other members received 10,  20, and 30-year Awards.
In Lions Clubs, members are encouraged to put family first, employment second and some of the time left for involvement in Lions activities.  Activities include helping in the community, as well as social gatherings, like our visit to the ten-pin bowling facility and the local putt putt course–a lot of fun.  Being a voluntary organisation, the members only give time when they wish to be involved.
If you would like to find out more about Lions and possibly come to a Lions Dinner, contact the Membership Chairman John Howleyph on 6581 1156.  You won’t regret it!
