All members, supporters and interested parties are invited to attend the upcoming Southern Downs Protection Group Inc Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, November 14, from 7pm at the Criterion Hotel, Warwick.
Two powerpoint present-ations will be delivered on the night, the first of which will be presented by SDPG president Dawn Heath and will chronicle the history and achievements of the group since its inception in July 2011.
“Although we haven’t been around for very long, I believe that members and supporters of the Southern Downs Protection Group have played a vital role for the community and have contributed to raising awareness across the region, of the potential impacts from coal and coal seam gas,” said SDPG president Dawn Heath.
“Therefore, I thought it would be a great idea to celebrate these achievements, which range from the highly successful Forum held at the Warwick Town Hall in February 2012, through to the group’s participation in state-wide events, including the recent Day of Action banner drop at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane.”
Following this, attendees will then have an opportunity to see ‘Bridging the Divide — Tara and Wandoan — Ground to Air’ a presentation by SDPG acting Secretary Marianne Irvine. This presentation chronicles a recent trip to Tara and Wandoan where Mrs Irvine had an opportunity to see first-hand how the mining boom and gas extraction industries are impacting both communities and families and includes both on-ground and aerial images.
Please note that only Financial Members are eligible to vote on the night, however membership applications will be accepted from 6.30pm.
