THE Port Macquarie Hotel has a new publican.
David Van den Boom brings to the hotel his extensive experience managing hotels from Birmingham in the UK, to large regional hotels in northern NSW and entertainment venues in North Queensland.
With a career spanning over 10 years in the hospitality industry, Dave most recently worked as an area manager for one of Australia’s largest independent hotel groups, managing a portfolio of eight hotels across Queensland and New South Wales.
The new licensee is supported by an experienced management team, including new operations manager Kirk Caracciolo, who brings to the team over 10 years’ experience in some of the state’s largest entertainment venues.
Dave, Kirk and the team say they are driven by reaffirming The Macca as a real social hub of the Port Macquarie community – a place where locals and tourists alike can come together over a beer, game of sport or night out in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Seeing early success with initiatives like their late-night courtesy bus and RSA initiatives like their complimentary food and water on the hour, every hour after midnight; Dave and his team have already made considerable inroads to seeing the venue improve on their safety standards and facilities.
