In order to raise funds for projects in Cambodia, India and Tanzania, ‘Pedal Against Poverty’ hosted an eight-hour mountain bike pedal in Port Macquarie.
The event, which was held last Saturday on the awesome 5km mountain bike trail loop at Wayne Richards Park, attracted over 100 participants from as far south as Sydney and north to Brisbane, with ages ranging from four to 67.
“With our Mountain Bike Pedal, you could set yourself your own challenge — riding as much as you chose or in a team to complete the eight hours,” event organiser David Poulton said.
“For the more seasoned and hardcore cyclists, you could cycle for up to eight hours non-stop,” he added.
Joining in the festivities was Jason English, the three-time 24 Hour Solo Mountain Bike World Champion, who not only had other competitors trying to keep up, but trying to stay on the same lap.
