MEMBERS of the Foreshore Lands Advisory Group (FLAG) have met to review submissions from the community about the future management of the Port Macquarie foreshore.
Member for Port Macquarie and FLAG chairwoman Leslie Williams said the members met for almost two hours to go through the submissions which had been collated by representatives of Crown Lands.
“Of the 229 submissions for 2012, most issues of concern focused on the Kooloonbung Creek Harbour redevelopment, expansion of the Port Marina, relocation of swing moorings, dredging issues, the visual amenity of the foreshore and concerns about any possible loss of car parking spaces,” Mrs Williams said.
“The issues were similar to those raised during the 2010 submissions, which were also taken into account during the process.
“I thank those members of our community who took the time to make a submission which have all been considered.”
Mrs Williams said the Port Macquarie foreshore was an important community asset.
“We have to get it right to ensure there is the right mix of protection of public assets, while at the same time allowing for consideration of any expansion of services in the future,” she said.
“The response from the FLAG meeting to the submissions is now being summarised in preparation for a formal recommendation to the Minister for his consideration and determination.”
