New England Girls’ School (NEGS) has its seventeenth new principal, Clive Logan, who was officially commissioned at a special service last week.
Mr Logan gave his undertakings of commission at a special service in the NEGS Chapel of St Michael and All Angels in front of Anglican Bishop of Armidale Rt Rev Rick Lewers, School Chaplain Fiona May, student leaders, staff and the school community.
“I undertake to serve the school with the utmost of my ability and oversee the provision of the very best general education possible,” Mr Logan pledged during the service.
Appointed Principal late last year, Mr Logan arrived at NEGS after a 30-year tenure as an educator and senior executive at the prestigious The King’s School in Sydney, the last 10 as its Director of Studies.
In that time he oversaw a remarkable improvement in the academic results of the school, with last year’s Year 12 cohort among the top 50 in Australia.
It’s that same commitment to academic excellence that Mr Logan said he wants to instil in students and staff at NEGS.
“This is a great school with a long and proud history,” he said. “I want to raise the bar at NEGS, assist the school to reach new levels and restore its fine traditions and pride in its many achievements.”
During his time at The King’s School, Mr Logan had extensive experience with the NSW Board of Studies, being a Co-ordinating Supervisor of Marking and a Senior Marker of History. He currently chairs the Board’s History Extension Examination Committee.
Residing on the NEGS campus since early January, Mr Logan and his wife Gaylia are looking forward to a long association with the school and enjoying life in Armidale.
“While I taught for a year at a country school in England, which was much like Armidale, I am relatively new to country NSW but very keen to get out and experience the region over the years ahead,” he said.
