$10,000 damage a kick in the guts

A well known car dealership in Port Macquarie copped the brunt of a senseless vandal attack on Saturday night.
Six vehicles within the grounds of the Miedecke car yard on Hastings River Drive were keyed, leaving an estimated damage bill in excess of $10,000, whilst other cars were smeared with what was believed to be sausage rolls and sauce.
Dealership principal Andrew Miedecke said this was not the first time the company had been targeted, and believed there was a consistency between attacks and certain sporting events held in the township.
“Ever since I can remember we have had vehicles vandalised during the weekend of major touch (football) events,” Mr Miedecke said.
“In past years we have put security on during these events but, with me being away and this tournament sneaking up on us, we failed to do so on this occasion.
“Every business welcomes major sporting events to town but we need to ensure there isn’t a negative anticipation leading up to same.”
Mr Miedecke indicated it would take around two weeks to fully repair the damage which will in turn push back other routine work.
