It’s not just the experienced runners that will be flocking to town this weekend to take part in the inaugural Port Macquarie Running Festival.
For five-year-old kindy student of St Columba, Leila Clarke, Sunday will be a chance to participate in the 2km fun run with her grandpa “Poppy Robert Tillott”.
It will be a true family affair for the Clarkes who will take to the start line in the 2km fun run, 10km and half marathon events.
When asked what Leila was looking forward to most about her run she had no hesitation in saying that “Poppy always runs with jelly beans”.
For those wishing to take a lighter approach prizes will be up for grabs for the event. The Independent’s own Darrell Nash of NashysPix will be putting up $100 for the Best Dressed Female as well as the Best Dressed Male, among a string of prizes.
The Port Macquarie Independent will feature images from Sunday’s Running Festival in next week’s edition.
