After crossing the globe without strife, a solo sailor hit trouble just off Port Macquarie last Wednesday.
The male captain of the 40 ft cutter Evelyn Roberts made a call for help at 2.30pm to Port’s Marine Rescue crew.
Spokesman Geoff Shelton said the man sited engine and sail trouble and needed a tow across the bar. Marine rescue responded to the call without incident. Mr Shelton said the avid sailor had recently conquered the seas between America and Bundaberg in Queensland.
He had then sailed to Sydney and was returning north, passing through Port Macquarie, when trouble struck.
