Port Macquarie beauty Miss Elle Ray was named the runner-up of the Face of Wintersun competition and joined the winner, Bonnie Rose of Melbourne, in leading the Wintersun Festival street parade on Saturday.
The rock and roll festival kept Port bopping from June 3 to 13.
The Wintersun Street Parade rolled through Port Macquarie’s central business district from 9am on Saturday.
Bonnie and Elle were officially crowned winner and runner-up of the Face of Wintersun after the fun and frills of the Vintage Fashion Parade at Westport Park.
Both girls will be ambassadors for the Wintersun event when it is staged at Coffs Harbour in 2012.
Sydney resident Tony Richardson entered and won the ‘Rock Around The Clock’ video contest as part of the Wintersun Festival celebration.
His three-minute video, posted on Greater Port Macquarie’s Facebook page won Tony a $3000 holiday for two to Port Macquarie.
Meanwhile the Wintersun Festival hit Wauchope on Friday afternoon with the arrival of the Rock and Roll train from Sydney.
Passengers were dressed in costume and were entertained throughout the trip by tribute acts John ‘Elvis’ Collins and Johnny T, famous for his Buddy Holly performances.
For John Collins the trip was a homecoming of sorts as the Elvis impersonator grew up in Wauchope.
Station staff got into the spirit of the welcome party, dressing up in the 60s theme.
The atmosphere was boosted by a car display from the local Holden and Ford clubs, who then provided an escort for the passengers’ coach transfer into Port Macquarie.
