Walkers advised area off limits

LAND owned by Armidale Dumaresq Council (ADC) for future expansion of the cemetery between the Armidale Cemetery and the railway line has been fenced off for grazing.
Leasing the land for horse grazing provides significant savings for ADC because the stock will assist in the control of weeds and long grass which cause a potential fire hazard.
Council hopes that some members of the public, who had used the area for recreational walking, will appreciate that the land continues to be used for its historic purpose as a leased grazing area.
ADC advises walkers, especially those with dogs, to avoid the area for their own safety as it now contains grazing stock including horses.
Access to many undeveloped ’bush style’ walking tracks in the area are still easily accessed, as is the northern end of the cemetery.
The public are also encouraged to explore Armidale’s many other specially designated walking areas, including Charleston Willows, the Pine forest and the Blue Wren Road area.
