Cash for community

LOCAL community projects will receive funding worth over $300,000 as part of this year’s Community Building Partnerships program.
The 23 projects include upgrades and improvements to local showgrounds, sporting and community facilities.
Some of the projects funded include the installation of disabled access to the Dorrigo Pool, resurfacing of tennis courts at Valla Beach, Hat Head and Nambucca Heads, an extension to the Hastings Men’s Shed in Wauchope and further improvements to Kempsey PCYC.
Community halls at Brierfield, Caffreys Flat, Hollisdale, Upper Lansdowne, Kempsey Red Cross, Wauchope Rotary Youth Hall, Stuarts Point and Nambucca Heads Men’s Sheds have also received funding for new facilities and improvements..
The funding has been provided under the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government’s Community Building Partnership program.
Mr Stoner said the government had committed funding to roll out 1235 community projects throughout the state as a part of $90 million allocated to the program over four years.
“Local construction jobs, businesses and community groups will benefit from the activity as these community projects get underway,” Mr Stoner said.
“I know here on the Mid-North Coast, there was strong competition for the available funds under the Community Building Partnership Program and a high level of interest from the community with almost 2,500 applications received across the state in total.
“I look forward to seeing the benefits to our communities as projects are undertaken and more importantly put into use along the Mid-North Coast,” Mr Stoner said.
