THE Oxley Highway is now being noise monitored by the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) as part of its upgrade from Wrights Road through to the Pacific Highway in Port Macquarie.
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said the monitoring was a way to assess the upgrade’s noise targets, as outlined in the project’s environmental impact statement.
“RMS wants to make sure nearby residents have the most appropriate noise mitigation measures at their homes to minimise disturbances from traffic,” Mrs Williams said.
“In coming weeks, specialist noise consultant AECOM will carry out noise assessments at 11 locations along the bypass.
“After the data is collected and analysed an operational noise report will be prepared and released later this year.”
The Oxley Highway upgrade opened in February last year and noise monitoring is planned to continue for the next 10 years.
