Kathryn Stevens lost her sight when she was 24 and through hospitalisation and rehabilitation she had to learn many skills.
These included using the “long cane”, learning “braille” and becoming the owner of a
guide dog.
Kathryn and her guide dog “Perri” were centre stage at a fundraiser at Broadwater Gardens recently to raise money and awareness for Guide Dogs of NSW Association.
Guide Dogs of NSW are not funded by Government of any kind, but by donations which go towards the services and mobility aids given free of charge to the blind and invisibly impaired.
The afternoon was dubbed a success, with Kathryn sharing her journey; and the event raised in excess of $500 for the cause.
