The Hastings and Kendall Men’s Sheds are each $10,000 better off.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, and Minister for Mental Health and Healthy Lifestyles, Kevin Humphries, inspected the Sheds late last week and pledged the funding on site.
“Community-run men’s sheds have important wellbeing and health benefits, primarily for older and retired men in regional and rural areas,” Mrs Williams said.
“One of the most significant outcomes of the sheds is their success in involving men in both monitoring and looking after their health.
“Whilst mental health is gradually being de-stigmatised through men feeling more comfortable talking about depression and other mental illness, the government is committed to keeping this process going.”
Minister Humphries also met with members of the Hastings Mental Health Network to discuss a range of mental health issues.
