Hundreds of grandparents from NSW and Queensland gained an insight into modern education when New England Girls’ School and St John’s Junior School in Armidale hosted their annual Grandparents Day on September 8.
Students from Transition to Year 12 spent some special time with their family members, sharing aspects of school life. The day started with a special chapel service and was followed by a morning tea and a concert of musical performances. Senior students then escorted their grandparents on a tour of the school, taking in facilities such as the Jean Newall Archive Centre, the national-standard NEGS Equestrian Centre, boarding houses and classrooms.
To grandparents, who travelled from southern Queensland, the NSW coast to Sydney as well as across the New England North West, the breadth and depth of facilities and opportunities was evident.
