Driver training aids learners

FREE workshops are being held over the coming weeks for parents and supervisors of learner drivers in Armidale.
“The workshops are designed to offer parents and supervisors hands on advice on how to deliver the best on-road experience for learner drivers,” Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said.
“They include information about licence conditions for learner and provisional drivers, young driver safety issues and low risk driving.
“Helping learner drivers become safer drivers is a two-hour workshop, delivered in local government areas across NSW by local councils in partnership with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).”
Mr Marshall said parents and supervisors of learner drivers played a crucial role in making the roads safer and that’s why the NSW Centre for Road Safety had developed this course to better support them.
“Parents and supervisors who have attended this course found it boosted their confidence, helped them better plan and deliver driving sessions and allowed them to share experiences with other parents and supervisors,” he said.
“The course also reinforces the important role of families in providing on-going support for young motorists in the early years of driving.”
The first workshop will be held in Armidale from 5.30-7.30pm on Tuesday, 27 August, at the Armidale City Bowling Club, in Dumaresq Street.
Bookings for the workshops are essential and can be made by calling (02) 6648 5435 or freecall 1300 359 968.
