Future in place for inspirational mumFuture in place for inspirational mum

A talented local designer and North Coast TAFE student has been given a golden opportunity to further her studies and aim for her dream of being a freelance designer. Single mum Kim Greenwood applied for the bursary through the Zonta Club of Port Macquarie, designed to assist a female student suffering financial hardship to continue studies and hopefully enter a career that would enable her to improve her status. After seeing a poster advertised on campus and being further encouraged by her teacher to apply, Kim’s distant dreams quickly turned to reality when she was notified that she was the chosen recipient. “I am honoured and feel very privileged and grateful to Zonta to be the lucky recipient,” Kim said. “I was looking for a way to be able to make ends meet with three children at school, a house to manage and still studying.  “This bursary will ease the pressure tremendously.” Having also previously won state-wide designer competitions, Kim has a good eye for fresh designs and plans to become a freelance graphic designer by taking advantage of the current articulation options though North Coast TAFE and Charles Sturt University.   “This is the time to get the best of both worlds – I can now chase my dream and stay in Port Macquarie.  Elaine Elsey, Zonta Club of Port Macquarie President, congratulated Kim on being the successful applicant and wished her every success.  “Zonta are pleased to be offering the bursary to further the education of local women and look forward to working with North Coast TAFE for future offers,” she said.
