AN EXHIBITION of health, medical and disability products, services and support agencies will be held in Port Macquarie in August.
The exhibition is being arranged to provide Port Macquarie-Hastings residents access to the type of information and displays usually restricted to major cities.
After the success of the recent Seniors Expo, many people commented on the lack of available information concerning health and welfare issues.
Thus the idea was born.
Nicole Graham is the owner of Emergency ID Australia, a Wauchope-based business specialising in the supply of medical identification jewellery.
Ms Graham decided to initiate an expo of health-related organisations for the benefit of local residents. She called on her friend Gregg Faulkner, publicity officer for the Port Macquarie Parkinson’s Support Group, to help with planning and development of the expo.
Together they decided that it must be run as a non-profit event, with all takings being shared by three regional community benefit organisations.
They decided on the Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre, Port Macquarie Parkinson’s Support Group and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service as worthy beneficiaries.
Ms Graham said requests for exhibition booths and expo sponsorship are already streaming in, with information available on the expo website – www.hmdexpo.com.au
“We are excited by the positive response we’ve already received and we hope the expo will be a great success, possibly becoming an annual event,” she said.
The expo will be held on Saturday, 17 August.
