The Mid Coast Lifeline Board has revealed that the Gordon Street Lifeline Shop should be recognised for its Excellence in Retail Operations.
In a special presentation on Wednesday, August 15, the Gordon Street Lifeline Shop received a special plaque honouring and acknowledging all the hard work of its Shop Manager and volunteers.
Catherine Vaara, the Chief Executive Officer of Lifeline Mid Coast, said, ”I am exceedingly proud of the work and dedication I have seen in Helen and the team at our Gordon Street Road Lifeline Shop in Port Macquarie.”
The Gordon Street Lifeline Shop received the award for Excellence in Retail Operations in celebration of the tireless efforts of the shop’s volunteers.
The true heroes of Lifeline share their time and talents, which ultimately leads to them making a difference in the lives of people who need to utilise the telephone Crisis Support Service that Lifeline provides for the community.
Volunteers are vital to the work of the Lifeline Shops and make up the majority of Lifeline’s Business employees, and this award aims to highlight and honour them.
Proceeds of all goods sold through the shops are channelled back into the work of Lifeline.
Lifeline receives 1250 telephone calls a day from Australians in need of support.
Sadly, up to 50 of these calls are from people at high risk of suicide.
