A selection of stunning Hastings water images are now featured in a digital exhibition at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery following the opening of National Water Week and the announcement of winners for the 2012 Osmosis Photography Competition.
Mayor Peter Besseling officially opened Water Week on Sunday and awarded budding local photographers for their efforts in this year’s Osmosis project, which raises funds for WaterAid Australia. Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has partnered with WaterAid for almost a decade, with local fundraising efforts supporting the provision of clean water infrastructure, sanitation and hygiene education for developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Water Week is not only an opportunity for residents to think about how they use water for daily activities, but to also lend a hand to communities around the world where water is extremely scarce or difficult to source,” Cr Besseling said.
“The Osmosis project is a fantastic initiative that combines art with education and I congratulate all those who participated this year.”
A selection of images from this year’s competition are featured in the 2013 Osmosis calendar which is now available for a gold coin donation from all Council offices, libraries and the Glasshouse. All money raised is donated to WaterAid.
