Drive helps fill kitchen’s cupboards

Last term the Student Representative Council (SRC) at Port High conducted a drive to obtain non-perishable goods to assist the running of the Soup Kitchen which, each Wednesday, provides meals to people who struggle to make ends meet and benefit immensely from a hearty “home-cooked” meal.
Boxes of canned and packaged goods were collected from the 40 roll group classrooms. Students gave generously over a two-week period.
A group of 20 volunteers give of their own time to cook and serve these meals and the spokesperson for these helpers, Bruce Cohen, was most appreciative of the students’ efforts.
Mr Cohen attended the weekly school assembly to present a certificate to Ms Leach’s Roll Call Group, who donated the most items.
