Primary Health Care has officially opened their new, purpose built, multi-disciplinary medical centre in Port Macquarie with a launch attended by GPs, medical centre staff, Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams MP and Primary Health Care board directors and senior executives.
The specially designed $6.5 million Port Macquarie Medical & Dental Centre, at the Corner of Hastings River Drive and Park Streets, will have more doctors, allied health professionals, medical specialists, pathology and radiology as well as a dental clinic, all at the one location.
Port Macquarie general practitioner and Primary Health Care board member Dr Paul Jones said the new Port Macquarie Medical & Dental Centre was a wonderful assetfor people living in the Port Macquarie and Hastings region.
“Our philosophy is to provide the community with affordable, accessible, high qualityhealthcare and this new centre will help us do that in a beautiful new and highly functional setting,” Dr Jones said.
“We have bulk billing and no appointments necessary, coupled with late opening hours every single day of the year, making it much more convenient for people who can’t always get away during business hours or during the week.
“Many other GP clinics in town have closed their books, so access to additional appointments will be very welcome in the community.
“The broad extent of our services and long opening hours also means the Port Macquarie Medical & Dental Centre will be able to provide an alternative to, and relief for, the busy local hospital emergency department for minor emergencies, like minor illnesses, uncomplicated fractures or minor cuts.”
Doctors, healthcare specialists and services are relocating to the larger PortMacquarie Medical and Dental Centre from the existing Eight to Eight Medical Centreon Gordon Street just 200m away.
Primary Health Care is the largest provider of GP and allied healthcare, pathology andimaging services in Australia, with over three million patient visits each year across NSW alone.
