Kids get art smart

The second Arts Immersion Day will be held at St Peter’s Primary School on Sunday, November 6 from 10am-2.30pm.
The aim of the day is to provide the students with a taste of an arts activity with the broader aim of encouraging recreational arts to become a regular part of growing up and as normal as going to the beach, a spokeswoman said.
“Eleven skilled tutors will generously donate their time to provide nearly 140 students workshops in dance, visual arts, drama, portraiture, woodwork, metal work, photography, singing, piano, craft, and guitar,” she said.
“We have seen a jump of nearly 40 students take part in Arts Immersion Day since last year.
“All students will participate as absolute beginners in their chosen arts field – and conclude with experience to encourage them to want to do more.
“The students will attend two sessions and conclude the day sharing each other’s work in a brief exhibition of the day’s work.”
