Appeal for missing persons

Mid-North Coast Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 13-year-old girl who has been missing since May.
Elizabeth Schiavini was last seen leaving a house on Bundarra Close, Taree, about 1.30pm on Tuesday, May 31.
She has not attended school since that date and Police are concerned for her welfare.
Elizabeth is just one of tens of thousands of missing persons in the country and the Police need your help to find them.
The public appeal comes during National Missing Persons Week 2011 from Sunday, July 31 to Saturday, August 6 with the theme “the impact of missing persons on family, friends and the community”.
Each year approximately 35,000 people are reported missing in Australia; this is equivalent to one person every 15 minutes.
Of those reported missing to Police, more than 95 per cent are located within one week.
The theme of the 2011 Missing Persons Week highlights that, for every person reported missing, estimates show that at least 12 other people are affected. The effects can cause a variety of consequences for those left behind, whether it is emotionally, physically, psychologically or financially.
Missing person Elizabeth Schiaviniis is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait appearance, approximately 160cm to 165cm tall, of solid build, with brown eyes and long dark hair.
Anyone who has seen Elizabeth or who may know of her whereabouts, or that of any missing persons, should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
