Solar scorecard

PORT Macquarie-led climate and energy security group Climate Change Australia has welcomed the launch of an online scorecard which ranks federal election candidates on their commitment to renewable energy.
The Solar Scorecard has been developed by 100% Renewable, the community campaign organisation, and can be viewed at www.solarscorecard.org.au
CCA president Harry Creamer said the site gave “suns” to politicians who support renewable energy and “clouds” to those who didn’t.
“Our approach is to say, look at the issues and make up your own minds about which party has the best policies to de-carbonise our economy – to reduce carbon emissions from electricity and transport,” Mr Creamer said.
“In short, who will best protect us from the impacts of climate change?
“The solar scorecard makes interesting viewing. All politicians need to understand that our environment is a key issue which affects everyone’s well-being.”
