A MAN and a woman were killed in a horrific car crash near Port Macquarie on Monday.
Police said the car crashed into a tree on Burrawan Forest Drive at Lake Innes, killing both occupants.
“Police have come across a Commodore that has crashed into a tree … you can see the impact was severe as the car was cut in half,” a police spokesman said.
It’s believed the woman was thrown from the car on imact.
Police said the car burst into flames not long after crashing into the tree.
A nearby resident said he heard the skidding and then a bang before jumping in his ute to investigate.
“I found the car in seven or eight different pieces,” he said.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
The names of the deceased have yet to be released to the public.
