Two local organisations have received $25,000 each to improve sporting and recreation infrastructure.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, announced the funding on Friday, saying she was pleased to announce that Port Macquarie Tennis Club has successfully applied for funding to upgrade the surface to six tennis courts at their complex.
“$25,000 has also been granted to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to construct a new shared walkway/cycleway at the Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park,” Mrs Williams said.
“Any opportunity to improve local infrastructure is very welcome for our community.
“One of the great things about these grants is they help to encourage people to participate in sport and recreational activities,” Mrs Williams said.
Applications for the next round of Participation and Facilities Program grants are now open until February 26.
“I encourage all local sporting organisations, not-for-profit sports clubs and local councils to apply for these grants,” Mrs Williams said.
