Residents are getting ready to run for their lives and staff at Holiday Cost Credit Union (HCCU) will be right at the starting line.
For the sixth year running the local financial institution has teams in this year’s Hastings Relay For Life, with 24 staff and their families registered.
Two staff members have also been assisting on the Relay committee as chairperson and sponsorship coordinator.
They are some of many residents, businesses and corporates backing the exciting fundraising event.
The Hastings Relay For Life will be held this weekend on April 2 and 3 at Stuart Park in Port Macquarie – a fun outdoor, overnight event where teams of 10-15 people take turns to walk or run around the oval to honour the lives of people touched by cancer.
Organised by local volunteers with the support of Cancer Council, the event raises money for research, support and education programs in the Hastings.
“Like all members of the community, a number of staff have been affected by cancer at some stage in their lives, through family, friends and fellow staff,” HCCU’s Relay spokeswoman said.
“Participating in the Relay not only provides the chance to enjoy the time and have fun whilst raising valuable funds to help beat cancer but it enables us to take time to reflect and remember those courageous people who have sadly lost their fight.”
The Relay For Life is all about celebrating with survivors, remembering those we have lost and fighting back by raising funds for research so that one day a cure will be found.
Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and fundraising.
