THE students at Banora Point Public School have been living up to the school motto and “soaring to the heights” in sport this year.
The school has had a very productive year, with 72 students competing at the District athletics carnival and 24 of those heading to the Far North Coast carnival at Byron Bay.
Not only did they have six representatives go through to the North Coast carnival in Lismore, but all will represent the North Coast at Homebush, Sydney for the State Carnival next month.
The girls’ 12/13 relay team won North Coast with a time of 58.62 while Kobi Lee-Leong came first in the boys’ 8-10 years high jump with a massive jump of 1.27m, 2 cms in front of second place and Taj Billings, a Year 2 student, came third in the 8 Years 100m with a time of 15.47 secs.
The school also has three representatives in the North Coast softball team who contest the state, beginning on 16 September – Will McCullough, Corey Bulluss and Lochlan Wolfe.
Meanwhile, Emerson Sharp and Luke Henderson represented the North Coast touch teams last month.
